Data Ethics Charter

Australian privacy law sets the floor. This charter is our ceiling. It's the set of commitments we make to you about how we treat your data — commitments we will not walk back to chase revenue.

The seven commitments

  1. We will never sell or rent your personal data. Not aggregated, not de-identified, not to insurers, not to advertisers.
  2. We will never train third-party AI models on your vault contents. Ever. This is a categorical no.
  3. We will keep your data in Australia unless you explicitly choose otherwise.
  4. We will publish material breaches within 72 hours, even where the law wouldn't require it.
  5. We will refuse extra-jurisdictional data requests that don't come with an Australian warrant.
  6. We will build for the day we don't exist. If STEADCALM shuts down, your vault export tool remains available for at least 180 days and your Estate Brief remains a standalone PDF.
  7. We will keep the free BDBN Checker free. The single most valuable check we offer is the one that must never be paywalled.

What we will not do, ever

  • Use your BDBN data to target you with insurance ads.
  • Share your inner-circle graph with a third party.
  • Weaken encryption for anyone, including law enforcement.
  • Introduce dark patterns to keep you subscribed after you've asked to cancel.

How we hold ourselves to it

Every commitment above is written into the STEADCALM Pty Ltd company constitution and reviewed annually by our independent board observer. Breaking one is a board-level matter.
