Death & Estate

Super is not automatically part of your estate. It sits with the trustee, who then follows your BDBN if it's valid — or exercises discretion if it isn't. This is the moment STEADCALM was built for.

What the trustee does at day zero

  1. Confirms the member has died (usually via death certificate lodged by the family).
  2. Locates the most recent nomination on file.
  3. Checks whether it's still binding (signed within the last 3 years, valid witnesses, eligible dependants).
  4. If valid, pays according to the nomination. If not, the trustee decides — often over 6–12 months of contested claim assessment.

What your family gets from STEADCALM

  • The Estate Brief PDF — every fund, member number, current BDBN status and beneficiary split, in one file for your solicitor.
  • Signed BDBN copies in the Document Vault, ready to be given to the fund without a lost-form request.
  • A Household register of your nominated contacts — relationship, access level and consent status — so the right person is known and pre-authorised before the moment arrives.
  • Automated inner-circle notifications — configurable triggers fire in-app, email or SMS to the right contact based on their access rights the moment the estate stage advances, with a full audit log of who was notified, when and why.

What we don't do

We don't write your will. We don't grant probate. We don't act as your executor. We hand your solicitor and executor a clean, current picture — so they can do their jobs in weeks instead of months.
